About the Music:

Sara Thompsen, a singer songwriter living in Duluth, has released four solo albums, three albums as a member of the Three Altos and an album performed with her partner Paula Pederson. She is also the director of the Echoes for Peace, a 70-voice community choir in Duluth, MN. To listen to Sara’s music, visit www.sarathomsen.com, or click here to hear her original version of the song.

PRACTICE RESOURCES:

All voices are welcome, and you do not have to read sheet music to participate! However, if you’re able to practice beforehand, that would be really helpful.

To practice, click on the “sheet music” button to open the sheet music in a separate tab. Then, use the audio tracks below to practice one of the three voice parts (tenor, alto, or soprano). If you are unsure which part you should sing, choose the alto line since this is the melody. Lower voices can sing the alto line down the octave. Once you feel confident, try singing your part with the “all parts” recording!

The point of these resources is to help you feel more confident, not less confident. If you find yourself struggling to practice on your own, then don’t worry about it! Just show up to the in-person rehearsal instead!

The first verse will be a solo, so the recordings start at measure 9, where it says “Hush now, sleep child”

Please feel free to contact one of the directors if you have any questions about this project!
